Berkeley Soccer Association would like to remind our families of an important change to player age-group placement beginning with the 2026–2027 season.

US Youth Soccer and our governing leagues have transitioned to an August 1 – July 31 seasonal-year format. This change is intended to better align soccer age groups with school grade levels and provide greater consistency throughout a player's developmental pathway.

As a result of this transition, some players may be placed in a different age group than they were under the previous age-group structure.

BSA carefully reviews our team rosters and player placements with consideration given to player development, appropriate competition, team composition, and the overall playing environment.

Our goal throughout this transition remains the same: to provide every player with an appropriate opportunity to develop, compete, and enjoy the game while supporting the long-term development of our teams and players.

We appreciate the cooperation and understanding of our families as we implement the new seasonal-year structure.
