Technical Tuesdays Starting April 2, 2013
2013 Berkeley Soccer Sprin Small-Sided (u7-u10) Technical Training Program -- begins April 2, 2013

In our best effort to standardize our current training program for our small-sided teams, to ensure all of those children are provided equal, top-notch technical training, Berkeley Soccer is providing free technical training on a weekly basis.

The sprin session begins Tuesday, April 2, with the following age groups participating at the following times:

       U7 and U8 girls and boys 5:30 - 6:30 pm

       U9 and U10 girls and boys 6:30 - 7:30 pm

This is purely technical training, meant to be in addition to each team’s practice sessions. There will be licensed trainers present during each session. Players will be split into groups with other players of similar ability which will allow for the combined ages and varying ability. It is free to all Berkeley Soccer-registered players, u7, u8, u9 and u10 (boy and girls).

All coaches in these age groups are expected to be present and on the field (to assist the trainers and to learn). The player to adult ratio will be about 6 to 1, which is far better than any camp can provide.

The training will run for 8 weeks. There is no additional cost for this training.

Berkeley Soccer Executive Board
Spring 2013 In-House Program Begins APRIL 13

The Spring 2013 In-house soccer clinic begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 13.

The in-house clinic, held Saturday mornings at 9 a.m., is open to children born between Aug. 1, 2006 and July 31, 2008. Children born after July 31, 2008 will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Parents who have already registered their children should arrive by 8:15 a.m. on April 13 to check in and have their child placed in the appropriate group. Parents who would like to register their child are welcome to do so. You can register in advance by contacting the registrar by email (registrar@berkeleysoccer.com). Parents also may register their child on Saturday, April 13. Please arrive by 8 a.m. to do so. You will need registration forms and two checks (registration fee and parent participation bond). Birth certificates are not required for the in-house clinic.

Children participating in the in-house clinic are required to wear shinguards and bring a size 3 soccer ball. Cleats are optional, and each child will receive a T-shirt for the program. Children should be dressed for the weather and should always bring water.

Rainouts will be announced on this website and, whenever possible, by email.

Parents also are reminded they need to put in two hours of volunteer time. That can be accomplished by working in the snackstand at the complex; the timeslots on Saturday mornings are 8:30-10:30 a.m. and we need four parents for each Saturday minimum.

You can find the in-house schedule on the right-hand side of this screen.

You can sign up by sending an email to registrar@berkeleysoccer.com.

Match Fit Chelsea & Berkeley Soccer Association Announce Partnership

As of February 1, 2012, Match Fit Chelsea and the Berkeley Soccer Association have entered into an official affiliation that will bring Match Fit Chelsea's training and coaching services to Berkeley Soccer Association players and those in the surrounding areas.

Match Fit Chelsea and the Berkeley Soccer Association are excited about our partnership and this is the start of many co-sponsored events and promotions that will be provided. Our joint philosophy of player development is far different from neighboring clubs and will ultimately lead to greater technical and tactical ability for every player. With the Match Fit Chelsea/Chelsea Metro training offerings comes a curriculum that is a collaboration of the Match Fit philosophy (one which made them a USSF Development Academy Club), the recent US Soccer Youth curriculum presented by Claudio Reyna and the Chelsea FC Youth Academy curriculum which is developing future English Premier League stars.

Stay tuned for more details on this partnership in the coming months including Regional Development Schools and tryouts for 2012/2013 Match Fit Chelsea teams.

FIELD STATUS AT EASTERN BLVD. SOCCER COMPLEX

Use of the Eastern Blvd. Complex during the off season is controlled by the Berkeley Soccer Association.  If you would like to use the field please contact someone on the Executive Board.  Please send us your request at least one week in advance of the date you would like to use the field.  You will receive a response as soon as possible.

Field 1 remains closed to all practices.  Specific permission for its use for games must come from the Executive Board.

Also, any field that has caution tape across the goal is closed.  PLEASE stay away from areas that are seeded.  We are doing our best to maintain the Eastern Soccer Complex as one of the very best in the area and we need your cooperation to make that a reality - thank you.

Please remember that Berkeley Township prohibits dogs (leashed or unleashed) at the Eastern Soccer Complex.

Also, the Code of Conduct signed by parents and volunteers prohibits the use of tobacco and alcohol at the Eastern Complex.  Our clear goals are to set an appropriate example and to provide a healthy environment for our young athletes.

Thank you for you consideration and cooperation!
