Technical Training Tuesdays! Starting March 27
2012 Berkeley Soccer Spring Small-Sided (u7-u10) Training Program - starts on March 27!!!

NOTE: THERE IS NO TRAINING ON TUESDAY, MAY 8  DUE TO NJ ASK TESTING

In our best effort to standardize our current training program for our small-sided teams, to ensure all of those children are provided equal, top-notch technical training, Berkeley Soccer has adopted a modified training program for the Spring 2012.

Starting on Tuesday, March 27, 2012, Berkeley Soccer will be hosting technical training sessions for the following age groups:

  • u7 and u8 girls and boys 6-7p
  • u9 an u10 girls and boys 7-8p

This is purely technical training, meant to be in addition to each team’s practice sessions. There will be 4 licensed trainers present during each session. Players will be split into groups with other players of similar ability which will allow for the combined ages and varying ability. It is free to all Berkeley Soccer-registered players, u7, u8, u9 and u10 (boy and girls).

All coaches in these age groups are expected to be present and on the field (to assist the trainers and to learn). The player to adult ratio will be about 6 to 1, which is far better than any camp can provide.

The training will run for 8 weeks and will be held on the following dates: 3/27, 4/3, 4/17, 4/24, 5/1, 5/8 & 5/15.

There is no additional cost for this training.

TRYOUTS/PLAYER EVALUATIONS FOR FALL 2012-SPRING 2013 SOCCER YEAR

ATTENTION: Due to the NJ ASK testing, the tryouts and evaluations scheduled for this Monday and Thursday have been postponed until May 21 and 24.

The Berkeley Soccer Association will be holding tryouts and player evaluations for 2012/2013 travel season beginning this Monday, May 7 at the Eastern Boulevard soccer complex.

They are open to players looking to play on recreational level to elite level teams. Teams will play in Ocean County Rec, MOSA, MAPS and JAGS and the higher-level teams will play in several high-level tournaments. U11 and older teams will compete in NJYS State Cup and US Club State Championship tournaments.

The Berkeley Soccer objective is to focus on the highest quality of training and development. This training method is based on a highly technical, ball possession style of soccer, to help develop and turn our young players into highly technically skilled players and help develop our teams from the recreational level all the way to the elite level.

Berkeley Soccer will be looking to form competitive travel teams at U8, U9, U10, U11, U12 and U13. We also will be looking form Berkeley Soccer-Match Fit Chelsea-affiliated teams.

Tryout dates and times are as follows:

For players who will be U8, U9 or U10 in the fall (birthdates between Aug. 1, 2002 through July 31, 2005), the tryouts/evaluations are Monday, May 7 and Thursday, May 10, beginning at 5:30 p.m.  THESE WILL NOW BE HELD MAY 21 AND MAY 24.

Players who will be U11, U12 or U13 in the fall (birthdates between Aug. 1, 1999 and July 31, 2002) can attend tryouts on Monday, May 14 and Thursday, May 17, starting at 5:30 p.m.

Players seeking to try out must register with Berkeley Soccer to do so for liability reasons.

The needed paperwork includes a Berkeley Soccer registration form and a copy of the player’s birth certificate.

Links for the forms can be found on our Registration page (see the link on the left). Further information about registration can be found on that page as well.

Players who do not currently play in the Berkeley Soccer Association and who are interested in attending the tryouts should contact Jimmy DellaPietro at vicepres@berkeleysoccer.com.

Please arrive 15 minutes early to the tryouts so we can complete registration.

Match Fit Chelsea & Berkeley Soccer Association Announce Partnership

As of February 1, 2012, Match Fit Chelsea and the Berkeley Soccer Association have entered into an official affiliation that will bring Match Fit Chelsea's training and coaching services to Berkeley Soccer Association players and those in the surrounding areas.

Match Fit Chelsea and the Berkeley Soccer Association are excited about our partnership and this is the start of many co-sponsored events and promotions that will be provided. Our joint philosophy of player development is far different from neighboring clubs and will ultimately lead to greater technical and tactical ability for every player. With the Match Fit Chelsea/Chelsea Metro training offerings comes a curriculum that is a collaboration of the Match Fit philosophy (one which made them a USSF Development Academy Club), the recent US Soccer Youth curriculum presented by Claudio Reyna and the Chelsea FC Youth Academy curriculum which is developing future English Premier League stars.

Stay tuned for more details on this partnership in the coming months including Regional Development Schools and tryouts for 2012/2013 Match Fit Chelsea teams.

FIELD STATUS AT EASTERN BLVD. SOCCER COMPLEX

Use of the Eastern Blvd. Complex during the off season is controlled by the Berkeley Soccer Association.  If you would like to use the field please contact someone on the Executive Board.  Please send us your request at least one week in advance of the date you would like to use the field.  You will receive a response as soon as possible.

Field 1 remains closed to all practices.  Specific permission for its use for games must come from the Executive Board.

Also, any field that has caution tape across the goal is closed.  PLEASE stay away from areas that are seeded.  We are doing our best to maintain the Eastern Soccer Complex as one of the very best in the area and we need your cooperation to make that a reality - thank you.

Please remember that Berkeley Township prohibits dogs (leashed or unleashed) at the Eastern Soccer Complex.

Also, the Code of Conduct signed by parents and volunteers prohibits the use of tobacco and alcohol at the Eastern Complex.  Our clear goals are to set an appropriate example and to provide a healthy environment for our young athletes.

Thank you for you consideration and cooperation!
