Technical Tuesdays Starting April 8, 2014
2014 Berkeley Soccer Spring Small-Sided (U6, U7-U10)
Technical Training Program -- begins April 8, 2014
In our best effort to standardize our current training program for our small-sided teams, to ensure all of those children are provided equal, top-notch technical training, Berkeley Soccer is providing free technical training on a weekly basis.
The Spring session begins , April 8, with the following age groups participating at the following times:
U6 girls and boys 6:30 - 7:30 pm
U7 and U8 girls and boys 5:00 - 6:00 pm
U9 and U10 girls and boys 6:00 - 7:00 pm
This is purely technical training, meant to be in addition to each team’s practice sessions. There will be licensed trainers present during each session. Players will be split into groups with other players of similar ability (except for U6, U6 will be with U6 players) which will allow for the combined ages and varying ability. It is free to all Berkeley Soccer-registered players, U6, U7, U8, U9 and U10 (boy and girls).
All coaches in these age groups are expected to be present and on the field (to assist the trainers and to learn). The player to adult ratio will be about 6 to 1, which is far better than any camp can provide.
The training will run for 8 weeks. There is no additional cost for this training.

NJ Mandatory Concussion Training
Concussion Training Required for All Coaches
All returning coaches, and all new coaches for the Spring 2012 soccer year are required by the state to take a 15 minute online concussion awareness course.
Everyone can complete and recieve the concussion training certification at http://www.cdc.gov/concussion/HeadsUp/clinicians/index.html
This is a requirement for all trainers and coaches at BSA.
The certification involves watching a short video, answering a few questions and printing out your certificate.

Match Fit Chelsea & Berkeley Soccer Association Announce Partnership
As of February 1, 2012, Match Fit Chelsea and the Berkeley Soccer Association have entered into an official affiliation that will bring Match Fit Chelsea's training and coaching services to Berkeley Soccer Association players and those in the surrounding areas.
Match Fit Chelsea and the Berkeley Soccer Association are excited about our partnership and this is the start of many co-sponsored events and promotions that will be provided. Our joint philosophy of player development is far different from neighboring clubs and will ultimately lead to greater technical and tactical ability for every player. With the Match Fit Chelsea/Chelsea Metro training offerings comes a curriculum that is a collaboration of the Match Fit philosophy (one which made them a USSF Development Academy Club), the recent US Soccer Youth curriculum presented by Claudio Reyna and the Chelsea FC Youth Academy curriculum which is developing future English Premier League stars.
Stay tuned for more details on this partnership in the coming months including Regional Development Schools and tryouts for 2012/2013 Match Fit Chelsea teams.
